Connected’s unique and innovative solution to minimizing disruption to residents while maintaining strict budget control satisfied the Selwyn board after rejecting three earlier proposals from other consortium bids. The project involved the refurbishment of a 1963 low-rise building at a Retirement Village, aiming to ensure compliance for the exterior window joinery and rejuvenate the exterior façade. Connected's approach was meticulously planned to avoid significant inconvenience to the residents, incorporating phased construction and clear communication channels to keep everyone informed. This meticulous attention to the residents' needs was a key factor in the Selwyn board's decision to choose Connected, ensuring that the refurbishment process was as smooth and unobtrusive as possible.
The client’s desire to retain the appeal of the original building structure while modernizing it with a glass façade presented a unique challenge. Connected's design team worked closely with the client to blend the traditional elements of the 1963 architecture with contemporary materials and design principles. The result was a harmonious balance between old and new, preserving the building's charm while introducing a sleek, modern look. Additionally, the project focused on enhancing the living experience for residents by creating more space within the apartments.
